On the boardLesson 1: solving equations

Everyone's working, on their own board, as they write it. Two have gone wrong: you see where.

See who needs you

Nobody waits unnoticed.

A raised hand, a student who hasn't started, a slip in someone's working: everyone's work is live in the Classroom, so you spot it as it happens and step in. Switch between everyone's work, their progress, and who needs help.

  • Students ask for help with one button
  • Explain on a board everyone watches, then let them work
  • Pause everyone's work with one click

Worked examples and graphs

One example. The whole class has it.

Change the worked example, then send it: every student gets their own copy to work on, and you watch them all at once. On the whiteboard, put a letter in a function and the graph gets a slider for it.

Your example6
  1. A regular hexagon: 6 equal sides
  2. Exterior angle = 360° ÷ 6 = 60°
  3. Interior angle = 180° − 60° = 120°
  4. Your turn: the angles of your own shape

Homework

The lesson carries on at home.

Give homework with a due date: a document, a board or code. Students hand in what they worked on, and you mark it with points, a rubric or simply done, and a comment they read the next time they open it.

  • Late hand-ins accepted, and marked as late
  • Replay how a solution was written, keystroke by keystroke
  • Quizzes come back as revision until they stick

Chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light but reflects green, so leaves look green. In autumn the tree stops making chlorophyll, and the colours that were hidden appear.

9/10

Excellent: both parts explained clearly. Can you say why the tree stops making chlorophyll?

Parents

Families see what matters.

With your invitation, parents see their child's next session, homework and marks and your feedback, and can book sessions and write to you. Nothing more, and nothing about other children.
